Serbian Court to decide on Mladic extradition

A court in Belgrade is set to consider an appeal against the extradition of Ratko Mladic after it received the motion on Tuesday.

Serbia’s Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric said that the Special Court for War Crimes had received the appeal on Tuesday, and a three-member chamber would now consider it.

The judges have three days to make a decision.

If the appeal is dismissed, the extradition ruling will become final and the order will be sent to the Justice Minister to be signed.

It is expected that the court in Belgrade will reject the appeal after a judge on Friday ruled that Mladic was fit to stand trial and approved the extradition of the former Bosnian Serb military leader to the UN war crimes tribunal in the Hague.
