10 Foreigners Arrested in Southern Iran

A02608613.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Law Enforcement agents arrested 10 foreign nationals, including one Iraqi, 4 Afghans and 5 Bangladeshis, for illegal entry into the Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday.

The Iraqi and Afghan nationals were arrested in Iran’s southwestern waters in the vicinity of Abadan, in Khuzestan province and alleged that they had trespassed the Iranian territorial waters for fishing purposes.

Meantime, the Iranian police arrested 5 Bangladeshi citizens who had illegally entered Iran via the borders of Chahbahar in southeastern Iran.

During the last 10 months, over one thousand foreign nationals, a majority of whom came from Iraq, have been arrested for illegal entry into Iran via the border regions of Abadan and Khorramshahr, in southwestern Iran.

Most of the said citizens have been repatriated to Iraq.
