Protests in Islamabad demanding dissolution of Pakistan’s government

Thousands of supporters of a Muslim cleric, Tahir ul Qadri, that is asking for dissolution of the government have gathered near the parliament building on Tuesday after a deadline set by the cleric for his demands expired.

The police clashed with the protesters for 10-15 minutes, but then the crowd continued peacefully.

Qadri is asking his supporters to not give up until their goals will be fulfilled.

He said: “Now and onward, you have to take care of Islamabad”.

During his speech, the cleric referred to President as “Ex-President” and to Prime Minister as “Ex-Prime Minister”.

Qadri compared the protest to the one that occurred in Tahrir Square in Egypt and said it will have the same outcome.
