Albania could get EU candidacy by December

European Union (EU) Ambassador to Albania Ettore Sekui said, “General elections on June 23, was a step further towards Albania’s being part of EU family.”

Sekui held separate meetings with outgoing premier Sali Berisa and winner Socialist Party (SP) Secretary General Edi Rama.

Speaking to the journalists following the meetings, Sekui said “General elections on June 23, was a step further towards Albania’s being part of EU family.”

Stating that Albania could be a candidate country within 2013, Sekui called on election-winner SP-leaded “European Albania Union” parties to work towards this end.
