At least 20 killed during rebel attack in western CAR

At least 20 people were killed in an attack by armed rebels on a town in Central African Republic, a local official and residents said Thursday.
Dozens of others were wounded when heavily armed rebels of the newly formed group Return, Reclamation and Rehabilitation – or 3R – attacked the western town of Bocaranga, said Euzede Ngaisset, the deputy mayor of the neighbouring town, Koui.
Residents said the armed men also looted a local Catholic church.
Many residents fled the area, according to Ngaisset.
The United Nations peacekeeping mission in CAR, MINUSCA, said it sent troops to Bocaranga to secure the town.
