Azeri President Satisfied with Tehran-Baku Excellent Ties

A0139992.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Azeri President Ilham Aliyev Friday evening expressed his satisfaction with Tehran-Baku “excellent” political relations, but called for further exchange of experiences in the industrial and economic fields.

During a meeting with Iranian Minister of Industries and Mines Alireza Tahmasbi, he stressed that upgrading of Baku’s economic and industrial infrastructures would need Iran’s assistance, IRNA reported.

Referring to the cultural, historical and religious commonalties of the two nations, he called for further bolstering of bilateral relations in all fields.

On Iran’s latest success in the nuclear field, Aliyev expressed support for Iran’s peaceful use of nuclear technology.

For his part, the Iranian Minister said the Islamic Republic of Iran had always supported the independence of Azerbaijan Republic.

Expansion of ties with all Muslim states, particularly neighboring countries, is a priority in Iran’s foreign policy, Tahmasbi declared.

Referring to the new Samand automobile assembly line established in the Republic of Azerbaijan, he said the production line would act as a successful model for bilateral cooperation, adding that he, along with several Azeri officials, will attend the inaugural ceremony for the first phase of the project scheduled to be held today.

As to a joint investment plan forged by Iran and Azerbaijan, Tahmasbi said the plan will contribute much to further expansion of bilateral ties.

Tahmasbi, heading an industrial and economic delegation, arrived in Baku on Friday to attend today’s inaugural ceremony of the first phase of Iran’s recently opened Samand auto assembly line in here.
