Speaking at the ceremony, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the Iranian people are pursuing the noble objective of accomplishing progress in various scientific, economic, cultural and spiritual areas.

“Experience has shown that a peace-seeking nation that treads the path to self-amelioration, prosperity, dignity and lofty human ideals should possess the necessary defensive power to protect itself in the face of the world’s aggressive and bullying powers. Therefore, based on this logic, attaining military power is one of the major goals of our country and nation,” the Leader of the Islamic Republic told the audience.

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that membership in the Iranian armed forces is today a source of honor for the Iranian youngsters.

“The valorous Iranian people, especially the faithful Iranian youth, have not allowed the enemies to materialize any of their threats against this country for the past 27 years. However, the Iranian armed forces should always be fully prepared to counter any threat posed by the enemies,” the Leader remarked.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces referred to the experience obtained in the course of the Sacred Defense as a valuable asset to the country’s armed forces. He called on army cadets to try to make the most of this precious experience and follow the venerable martyrs as their models.

Further in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei described the country’s future as very encouraging and promising. He also referred to the existing vigilance, dynamism and vitality on the part of the Iranian nation and the deep faith and perseverance on the part of government officials and their strong motivation to serve the public.

“Today, the friends and foes of the Iranian people are acknowledging the high status of our country and nation at the international level. Under these circumstances, serving in the Iranian armed forces is something sacred and of great value as well as a source of honor and dignity,” the Leader observed.

At the ceremony, exemplary military instructors, graduates and staffers and a number of war-disabled veterans, former prisoners of war and honorable families of martyred army personnel received awards from the Leader of the Islamic Republic.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army Major General Ata’ollah Salehi stressed that the army’s dedicated servicemen, while renewing their allegiance to the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, are ready to sacrifice their lives for the sake of their religious values and their Islamic homeland.

The Chancellor of Imam Khomeini Naval Academy Rear Admiral Mohammad-Taqi Fani, also speaking at the ceremony, presented a report about the academy’s educational and scientific activities and the practical training that is offered to cadets at the academy.
