President Stresses Expansion of Cooperation with Belarus

A0185371.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stressed the need for the development of Iran-Belarus bilateral ties in various sectors, including energy, industry, trade and defense industries.

A statement released by the Presidential Press Office said that the president made the remarks in a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister here in Tehran on Sunday.

During the meeting, Ahmadinejad stressed the point that the prevailing mono-polar system has laid much pressure on all the world countries, specially the independent states, and called cooperation and companionship of all friendly states for changing such an unjust system an urgency.

Noting the common view points the two states share in the different political and economic areas, he stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is decisive to optimize its ties with such independent states as Belarus within the format of mutual agreements.

The Iranian president further expressed the hope that the impending visit to Tehran by his Belarusian counterpart would lead to long strides in the development and deepening of the two countries’ relations and that Lokashenko’s trip would open a new chapter in the expansion of Iran-Belarus all encompassing ties.

For his part, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Martynov said that the two states enjoy excellent cooperation grounds, and called for the expansion of all-out ties with the powerful country of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He said his country attaches much significance to the boosting of Tehran-Minsk cooperation, and referring to the two countries’ common views about the international issues, he blasted the mono-polar system dominating the world.

The diplomat also voiced his country’s preparedness to cooperate with Iran and other independent world states to change the dominant mono-polar system to a multi-polar one.
