Thailand Welcomes Boosting of Cooperation with Iran

A0146113.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Thailand’s Culture Minister Khunying Khaisi Si-arun, in a meeting with Tehran’s Ambassador to Bangkok Mohsen Pak Ayeen on Monday, welcomed development of cultural and scientific cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Also during the meeting, Mrs. Sri-arun voiced her country’s preparedness to endorse cultural agreements with Iran.

Noting the common cultural and social values of Iran and Thailand, she reminded that her country got familiar with Iran 400 years ago following the immigration of Iran’s famous theologian and scholar Sheikh Ahmad Qomi to Thailand, adding that her country is well informed of the role of Iranian scientists, scholars and elites in the construction of Asian civilization.

The Thai official welcomed increase of academic cooperation with Iran, particularly in the exchange of university professors and students, and further called for the arrangement of joint scientific conventions.

For his part, Iran’s Ambassador to Bangkok Mohsen Pak Ayeen pointed out that Iranian government attaches special significance to the development and deepening of cultural relations with Asian states, including Thailand.

He also stated that the two countries’ cultural exchanges, specially presence of Sheikh Ahmad Qomi in Thailand 400 years ago, are some of the precious constituents and capitals of mutual cultural ties, which underpin Iran-Thailand relations in the contemporary era as well.

The diplomat further expressed the hope that endorsement of cultural agreements by the two sides would open a new chapter in the two countries’ relations.
