During the current visit, which is his second to the Islamic Republic since last winter, Ivanov is scheduled to attend talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Ali Larijani.

Concurrent with Ivanov’s visit to Tehran, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov blasted US policies on Iran.

Diplomatic sources assess Ivanov’s current visit to Tehran and his meetings with Iranian officials as crucially important for they believe that Iran and Russia are now endeavoring to work out a new formula for the nuclear standoff.

The Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki Saturday said that Russia’s Security Council Secretary Igor Ivanov would come to Tehran to hold talks aimed “at finding a comprehensive formula for solving Iran’s nuclear case.”

Mottaki also stressed that Tehran would continue its legal activities in the nuclear field, but meantime assured that the Islamic Republic would continue its consultations with all the relevant parties to safeguard Iran’s national rights and remove the concerns that the counterparty might have.

He said that such consultations are aimed at reaching a comprehensive formula.
