Iran, Belarus Stress Development of Economic Ties

A023289813.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Minister of Industries and Mines Ali Reza Tahmasbi, in a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Martynov here on Saturday, reiterated the need for the expansion of the two countries’ economic relations and cooperation.

During the meeting, Tahmasbi also underlined the necessity for the boosting of the two countries’ industrial cooperation, and expressed the hope that Iran-Belarus cooperation would be promoted to the highest levels possible, similar to what exists in their political ties.

He further pointed out that the Islamic Republic views production of Iranian-made Samand passenger car in Belarus as a symbol of the two countries’ cooperation.

The official also called for accelerated implementation of the agreements signed by the two sides on the launch of operation of phase two of Samand manufacturing company in Belarus.

Tahmasbi said that his country is capable of accessing markets in Russia, Ukraine and other regional countries through Belarus.

For his part, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Martynov said that his visit to Iran was aimed at bolstering the two countries’ economic exchanges and increasing Tehran-Minsk economic ties.

He also said that during his current visit to Tehran he has striven to follow up on the agreements signed by the two countries during a recent visit to Tehran by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko.
