Mottaki Views Bush Policy on Afghanistan Failure

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Friday evening that US President George W. Bush’s policies in Afghanistan have failed and that the time is ripe for changing them.

Speaking to reporters upon arrival in Tehran from his two-day official visit to Belarus, he termed his Belarus visit as “constructive”.

The foreign minister, heading a high-ranking delegation arrived in Minsk, on Thursday at the official invitation of his counterpart, Sergei Martynov to review avenues to bolster mutual relations as well as key regional and international developments with senior Belarus officials.

According to the Islamic republic news agency, he referred to Tehran-Minsk relations as “logical and healthy”, stressing that the prospect of the two countries’ cooperation is “very bright”.

He added that Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is to visit Tehran in the next few months.

During his stay in Minsk, Mottaki held talks with President Lukashenko, Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky, Parliament Speaker Vladimir Andria Chenkov, and his counterpart on issues of mutual interest.
