S Ossetia hopes EU mission to probe into real facts of Georgia’s war

TSKHINVAL, March 6 – An independent inquiry mission of the European Union, which will investigate the facts of the conflict in South Ossetia, arrived in the republic on Friday with Heidi Tagliavini at the head.

EU emissaries will meet with South Ossetian presidential Plenipotentiary Representative on Issues of Post-Conflict Settlement Boris Chochiyev and Foreign Minister Murat Dzhioyev.

“We informed members of the commission about our position and underlined that if their mission were really independent its major task should be to disclose real facts of aggression, but not to justify, as many international organisations do, actions taken by the Georgian government,” Chochiyev told Itar-Tass on Friday.

Tagliavini and military experts in the EU delegation also met with the South Ossetian prosecutor general and the interior minister.
