Mesic Urges More Croatia-Bosnia Dialogue

resizer7Croatia’s president Sepjan Mesic, on an unofficial visit to Sarajevo, urged the three members of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s presidency for a little bit more willingness to resolve open questions between the two countries.

He said that with a little bit more dialogue and effort from both sides, outstanding issues can be solved, pointing to questions such as dual citizenship, commerce and borders.

“A precondition for good cooperation and resolution to all of the problems is in open conversation,” he said.

Mesic also met the High Representative and EU Special Representative, Valentin Inzko. Inzko said that Croatia has “an important role to play in the region” and is ”an example how a country can make progress on its EU and NATO path though its own efforts”.

Inzko also used the opportunity to urge Bosnia’s leaders to work harder towards EU integration. “This year will be crucial for the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union. The country needs to take further action and implement the European integration priorities. The future of BiH and the whole region is within the European Union.” said the High Representative.
