Kosovo CEC confirms local election victory of Hashim Thaci’s party

The governing Democratic Party of Kosovo headed by Prime Minister Hashim Thaci wins the 15 November local elections. Meanwhile, the opposition Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has considerably strengthened its positions, Kosovo’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) announced.

The candidates of the Democratic Party of Kosovo win the mayoral elections in five municipalities. In 12 more they will compete in the run-off vote.
President Fatmir Sejdiu’s party comes in second. It wins in three municipalities in the first round and in the second one it will run in 10 municipalities.
