Bucharest accepts Moldovan ambassador

Chisinau received the agreement of Bucharest on the appointment of Iurie Renita as Moldova’s Ambassador to Romania, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

Moldova’s acting president Mihai Ghimpu is to sign an appointment decree after the approval of the Government.

Iurie Renita, 52, is a journalist by profession. He was part of the first graduating class of the Moldovan students at the Bucharest-based National School of Administration and Political Sciences. During 1996-1999 he was counselor at the Moldovan Embassy in the USA, after which he served as advisor to Foreign Minister Nicolae Tabacaru. Iurie Renita also worked for several years with the OSCE Mission to Croatia. He is now manager of the British American Tobacco, Moldova.

Moldova hasn’t had an ambassador in Romanian for more than a year. After the last April’s violence, the then Communist government recalled Lidia Gutu from Bucharest, with charge d’affaires Efim Chilari serving as caretaker in the interim.

Iurie Renita is one of the 14 candidates proposed by the Government for ambassadorial posts in Moldova’s diplomatic missions.
