Serbian, Russian FMs meet in New York

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkić met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New York, where they are attending the UN Nations General Assembly.

Mrkić said that he and Lavrov spoke about progress in the preparations for the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Serbia.

“We are trying to make sure the preparations go smoothly so that, hopefully, the visit may take place before the end of this year,” Mrkić added.

The main topic of our meeting was Kosovo and Metohija, Mrkić said.

Yesterday, the Serbian foreign minister discussed KiM with Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, who confirmed that Oman it will stick to its official position not to recognize the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo.

Oman has a principled stance not to side with anybody as long as the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština is underway, said Mrkić.
