Serge Brammertz praised Serbia’s efforts but expects more

Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz commended Serbia at a UN Security Council session Wednesday for extraditing Ratko Mladić and Goran Hadžić. However, he demanded a serious investigation into the network of their helpers prior to the arrests. “We want to see results in the investigation into how they managed to avoid arrest for so many years,” Brammertz said in New York, stressing that since his last visit to Belgrade in November, he saw that little progress had been made in that regard and demanded better results by the time he prepared his next report. He commended Serbia for extraditing the two last Hague fugitives, stressing that it was a proof that nobody could evade justice forever.
