Turkish Cypriot PM resigned his post

Leader of National Unity Party (UBP) and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk has resigned his post as required by law in the wake of his government’s downfall on Wednesday by a motion of no confidence.

Kucuk submitted his resignation to President Dervis Eroglu during a short meeting on Thursday.

Kucuk said he was fulfilling his constitutional obligation. His cabinet will continue to serve until Eroglu gives the mandate for a new government.

“Mr President ought to decide impartially and in accordance with the constitution,” Kucuk said.
