Georgian PM calls on EU to increase support for Georgia

Russian-Georgian relations were discussed by the Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili, at a meeting with members of EU Council’s Political and Security Committee.

Despite the fact that positive momentum is observed in certain respects, Russia still continues unlawful actions, Ivanishvili said.

The Prime Minister underscored that installation of barbed wire entanglements in Georgian has been going on for several days.

Ivanishvili urged the EU on behalf of government to enhance support to Georgia.

Russia’s actions and militarization create a threat both for population, Georgia and the whole region, Georgian PM said.

“I would like to call on the European Union on behalf of the Georgian government, to strengthen support for the Eastern Partnership countries taking into account the current serious external challenges and ensure the realization of the objectives of Vilnius summit which have been already agreed upon,” Ivanishvili said.
