Turkish ambassador to Tehran said that his country is making serious efforts to clarify the case of the former Iranian deputy defense minister, Ali Reza Asgari. According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau, the Turkish diplomat made the remarks in a meeting with the Director of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Department for West Asian Affairs here in Tehran on Sunday.
The Turkish envoy elaborated on the cooperation of the relevant Turkish bodies with the Islamic Republic organizations in relation to Asgari’s case, and said Turkish officials are continuing their efforts in this regard.
He further quoted the Turkish foreign ministry spokesman as saying that media reports on Asgari’s case are mere assumptions and are not established realities.
Ali Reza Asgari, a former Iranian deputy defense minister under Khatami’s administration, was kidnapped in Istanbul two months ago while on a personal business trip to Turkey.
